CHENNAI: Adding to
the mushrooming growth
of educational institutions,
yet another new school
will start functioning from
the coming academic year
2012-13. A new CBSE day
school -- St John’s Public
School – catering to children
residing in Tiruvanmiyur,
Taramani, OMR, ECR,
Tambaram, Chromepet and
other areas of south Chennai
was launched by the St
John’s Group of Institutions
here last evening. Talking
to reporters at the launch
function, St John’s Public
School founder Dr R
Kishore Kumar, who is also
the team leader of the institution,
said the school was
ideally located at the Medavakkam-
Sholinganallur
junction. It would cater to
an area which has largely
unorganised people.
Dr Kishore Kumar said
the school would follow
the CBSE curriculum and
have classes from pre-KG
to standard 12. The fee
structure would be fi nalised
soon. The school would
come up in three phases. In
the fi rst phase classes from
pre KG to Eight standards
would commence from
the coming academic year.
Classes for ninth and tenth
standards would be added
in the second year and Plus
One and Plus Two in the
third year.
Spread over a two acre
area (38 grounds), the school
would have a total built
up area of 1.25 Lakh sqft
with provisions for a music
school, dance school, cricket
and sports facilities, senior
and junior libraries, a junior
science laboratory, a math’s
lab and an art studio.
It would not come under
the eco or green school
categories, but the campus
would have plenty of free
space and greenery for students
to enjoy, he added.
Dr Kishore said three full
scholarships each would
be given to wards of police
personnel, journalists and
teachers per year. Anna

Dr P Mannar Jawahar formally
launched the school
by inaugurating its website
and wished all success to the
new venture. The formal
admission process would
open on March two with the
sale of school prospectus.
