CHENNAI: A woman from Andhra Pradesh, who was in an advanced stage of pregnancy, delivered a still born baby boy after developing labour pain out of tension on being refused permission to board a fl ight to citing lack of medical documents, early today. Airport and police sources said the incident occurred when the immigration authorities refused to allow the woman, Nathale Munuy Shyama Sundari (30), from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, to board a fl ight citing her advanced stage of pregnancy. The authorities refused permission on the ground that the seven-month-old pregnant woman, who was traveling alone, did not have a medical certifi cate that she was fi t for air travel. She picked up an argument with the authorities and in the process developed labour pain. As she was writhing in pain and crying, the woman was taken to a private clinic at the airport lounge. When she went to attend to nature’s call, she also went into labour and delivered the still born boy. She was taken to hospital for further treatment. The woman’s husband was working in Malaysia and she was supposed to join him there. She had come to the airport from Hyderabad to board a Malaysian Airlines fl ight at 0045 hrs in the wee hours of today when the incident took place. After going through the security checks, she was stopped at the immigration counter, resulting in heated arguments that eventually led to the woman developing labour pain leading to the delivery of a still born baby. Tension prevailed in the airport following the incident.
