Jermy Browne launches India-wide Road show for London Olympics

BANGALORE: United Kingdom Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and incharge of 2012 London Olympics on Monday launched India-wide Road Show by playing Badminton with former All England Champion Prakash Padukone and former Indian National Coach Vimal Kumar at Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy here. Addressing a press conference later, he said that London is geared up for the mega event Olympics and the entire city will wear a festive look during the event which expects more than 20,000 media personnel coming to cover the sports events. ‘It is more than sports, it will be a festive season for London during Olympics,’ he added. Earlier, he interacted with school children and explained to them how his country has geared up for the Olympics held in August. Browne, during the Road show running up to April 18, will visit Chennai tomorrow (Feb 14) and play Hockey with current and former members of India’s Hockey squad and school children, on March 2 and 3 he will visit Kolkata where Olympic gold medal winner Abhinav Bindra performs a ‘Go Team India’ Olympic anthem (Song and Dance) with children from a Charity run by a British national for Children with leprosy, on March 7 to Mumbai to participate in Special Olympics Day, from March 13-18 to Chennai to participate in a four-day slum soccer football tournament, on April 17 to Delhi where Mini Olympics with a charity set up by a UK national for slum children and on April 18 he will participate in send off for the Indian Olympic team.
