Fishermen killing: Kerala CM assures of action

KOCHO: Condemning the brutal killing of two fi shermen off Alappuzha by Italian Navy guards from an Italian registered oil tanker, Kerala Chief Minister Ommen Chandy today made it clear that the government would take all steps to bring the culprits before the law. Briefi ng decisions taken in UDF meeting to reporters here, he said it was an unfortunate incident and the government was taking the issue very seriously. ‘’We cannot take the issue emotionally. However, the government would never allow escaping those who were behind the heinous killing of two innocent fi shermen,’’ he added. Stating that he was taking stock of the situation with the Accountant General and other top police offi cials on how to bring the culprits before the law, he said, he had communicated all the information regarding the progress of action by the government to the Centre in this regard and both the Centre and state government would take stringent action against those involved in the incident.
