Court rejects case against Yahoo

NEW DELHI: Administrative Civil Judge Praveen Singh here on Monday dismissed the case against internet searching engine Yahoo for allegedly hosting objectionable content on its site. Plaintiff Mufti Ijaz Arshad Quasmi, former spokesperson of Darul Uloom Deoband and currently general secretary of ‘Islamic Peace Foundation,’ an NGO, could not produce even a single document showing objectionable content from Yahoo. The Court, on December 20 last, in its ex parte order had summoned 22 social networking sites including Yahoo to remove anti-social and anti- religious contents. Justice Singh also imposed a fi ne of Rs 5000 on the plaintiff. The case against other social networking sites will continue.
