Italian Dy Foreign Minister satisfi ed with facilities for marines

KOCHI: Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Steffan de Mistura today expressed satisfaction over the arrangements being provided by the government for the two Italian Marines who were under the Kerala Police custody in connection with the killings of two Indian fi shermen off Alappuzha Coast on February 15 last. After visiting the two Italian Marines, who were lodged at the CISF Guest House here, he said the arrangements provided by the government to the two Italian Naval Guards were quite satisfactory. Extending full cooperation to the police for their investigation into the incident, the Italian Minister, however, reiterated their earlier stand that the incident took place on international waters. Mr Steffan also expressed deep sorrow over the incident and the killing of two innocent fi shermen. The Italian Minister, who is in the city in connection with the shooting incident and the subsequent arrest of the two Italian Naval guards, visited Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Kottayam last night and held discussion with him on the issue.
